Students need to be at school by 8:20 a.m. so that the bus may leave on time at 8:30. Students will return to school by 3:00 p.m. in time for our regular dismissal.
- Your child is bringing home several forms for you to complete and return. Please read them carefully. The yellow card MUST be signed on both sides. We need them (with the $29 fee) back to school by Jan. 6.
- There is a $29 fee that includes equipment rental and level-appropriate lessons (with scholarships available-see next item). When the instructors judge that a student is ready, a lift ticket will be provided as well.
- Please write any checks to GFPS. If you choose to request a scholarship, please contact Ashlie Clark or Mr. Moore at 268-6800.
- Chaperones:
- You do not need to know how to ski to help us out. Much of the day is spent supporting students with equipment issues and on the beginner slope. We need many non-skiing helpers to assist that day. Please let us know if you will be going to help out. You are welcome to drive your own vehicle and meet us there.
- For those who want to ski, we have a limited number of discounted chaperone packages ($29) for those who wish to ski after the students start their lessons. We will also need your help at the end of the day to help with equipment return and bus boarding.
- Bus space is limited. If we have room, you are welcome to ride the bus with the teachers and students. Your student must ride the bus to the ski hill, but you may drive him or her home with you. In this instance, his or her teacher needs a signed and dated note before the bus leaves Showdown.
- Students will have the option to bring their own lunches or order a sack lunch through the school hot lunch program. The school breakfast program will be available for those who wish as well. We will take both the breakfast and lunch counts on Jan. 6.
- To maximize “ski time”, we will not eat lunch until 1:15 on the bus. Students are encouraged to pack a quick, portable snack to eat mid-morning between runs. Examples: granola bar, fruit snack, etc.
- If you have any questions at all, feel free to call or e-mail me. This was a wonderful day last year, and I know the kids are going to love it (especially if a beginner)!
